Why Discord contact deletion is awkward
Discord's mobile app can sync your iPhone Contacts to find friends, but that's separate from your Discord friends list. Removing someone from your Discord friends doesn't touch iPhone Contacts, and disabling Contacts sync doesn't delete already-uploaded data.
Step-by-step
- 1
Remove individual Discord friends
Discord app → Friends tab → tap the friend → More → Remove Friend. Confirm.
- 2
Disable Discord's Contacts access
iPhone Settings → Discord → Contacts → None. Then in Discord: ⚙ → Privacy & Safety → How we use your data → toggle off contact sync.
- 3
Clean iPhone Contacts
Use Delete Contacts to swipe through and tidy the iPhone address book. The fewer people in there, the less Discord (and every other app) gets to see.
How Delete Contacts helps
Discord, like other social apps, treats your iPhone address book as a friend-suggestion data source. Trimming it with Delete Contacts limits what every app can suggest by default — on-device, no cloud upload.
