Why LinkedIn contact deletion is awkward
LinkedIn aggressively encourages you to upload your contacts to grow your network. Once uploaded, those contacts may be invited or suggested even after you decline. There's no automatic deletion — you have to actively manage both the LinkedIn-side imported list and the iPhone Contacts source.
Step-by-step
- 1
Delete LinkedIn's imported contacts
linkedin.com → Me → Settings & Privacy → Data privacy → How LinkedIn uses your data → Manage your imported contacts → Remove all contacts.
- 2
Remove unwanted connections
LinkedIn → My Network → Connections → search for the person → ⋯ → Remove Connection. They aren't notified.
- 3
Stop future syncing
iPhone Settings → LinkedIn → Contacts → None. In the LinkedIn app, disable any 'Sync contacts' toggle in Settings → Sync.
- 4
Tidy the iPhone Contacts list
Use Delete Contacts to swipe through and trim. With a smaller, more intentional address book, future LinkedIn 'find friends' prompts have less to feed on.
How Delete Contacts helps
LinkedIn is one of the most aggressive address-book consumers. Cleaning the iPhone Contacts source with Delete Contacts — on-device, never uploaded — is the foundational step.
