Why Telegram contact deletion is awkward

Telegram pulls its contact list from iPhone Contacts (just like WhatsApp). 'Deleting a Telegram contact' really means removing the iPhone entry, which then drops out of your Telegram contact list. Telegram has separate actions to block, mute, or delete chat history — but those don't remove the contact.

How do I delete all Telegram contacts at once?
Telegram doesn't have a 'delete all' inside the app. Two paths: (1) revoke its Contacts permission in iOS Settings → Telegram → Contacts → Off, which hides everyone except people you've actually chatted with; (2) clean up the iPhone Contacts list itself with Delete Contacts so the underlying source is tidy.
Does deleting a Telegram contact block them?
No. Deletion and blocking are separate. To block, open the chat → contact name → Block User. To both delete and block, do both actions.
Why does Telegram show contacts I never added?
Telegram cross-references its global user database against your phone-number contacts. Anyone in your iPhone Contacts who has Telegram becomes visible automatically. To stop this, either revoke the Contacts permission or clean the iPhone Contacts list.
